What color can you paint your room if you have a blue carpet?

How about a light neutral color such as beige, light tan or even plain white? A lighter shade of blue might work, too, depending on the color of the carpet. Also, if you can cut a small piece of the carpet and take it to your paint store, the salesperson should be able to help you match something up.

An attic bedroom (see Comments) is a great space to decorate. Start by looking at your wardrobe... What is your favourite colour (or the colour you wear the most often. This is a great place to get your ideas.

If the colours you wear most are dark, you may not want to paint all your walls quite that dark, but there is nothing wrong with painting one wall (called a focal wall) as dark as you like. Before painting any dark colour, be sure you have your parent's permission. To choose your focal wall, in an attic room, look for the wall furthest from your entrance or the one you have the head of your bed against. If there is a large (or tall) wall you may want to use that one as your focal wall and move the bed. Paint your other walls either a neutral colour or a medium tone of your dark colour. Partial, tilted walls can be painted a still lighter tone of the same colour.

If there are dormers with windows in them, keep them light (not white...light) and use the lightest window treatments you can. Be sure of your privacy, but make sure you get as much light in as you can. Your woodwork, baseboards, window frames, maybe even your furniture (if you have permission to paint it) should be in white. Particularly if the rest of the room is dark or has intense colours.

Last but not least go back to your "I hate it" carpet, and pick a couple of colours (not the blue) as accents. A pillow here, a throw there, a bit of gauzy fabric draped over (careful not to set it on fire) a lamp shade and you are off to the races.

If your attic bedroom has a lot of slanted ceilings, you could turn the whole thing into a "tent." Not the circus kind of tent, but how about a Bedouin tent. Use lots of inexpensive fabrics, and paints in Oranges and turquoise and pinks with lots of gold accessories, and lots of rugs, overlapping on the floor. Use big pillows to sit on and as many small pillows in the "lux" fabrics and colours. Your bed linens can be any and all colours from your walls with a gauzy "silk" length hung over a short dowel at the head of the bed (or a mosquito net to give it an exotic look). This room works best with gold (or brass) accessories.

Depending on the walls the color might be either green or simply blue. My room has green and blue walls, I have white colors but soon going to get blue and green.

What colors one like is ultimately up to ones own preferences.

Whether one add colors to tone up the carpet (make it stand out) or add colors to make carpet less visible is a choice one make.

Some people with a taste for violet would tell you how good taste you have if you painted your bed violet. Other people that does not like that color would maybe not say much, suggest a different color or even be "rude" about it :-)

Most blue flowers have got green attached to it. Maybe have a look in a flower shop. Try to find the flower you can match with the carpet, and then see what other colors there are in the flowers that look good to you :-)

It depends on how light blue the walls are. I would say go with anything white, pale pink, pale yellow, black or silver.
