If a line is tangled, you most likely cannot undo it with one hand. However, if is a knot that needs to be undone, many knots can be undone with one hand. If a knot is "slipped", which means it has an end that will release it, the slipped end is pulled. This is the way you untie shoelaces, which are tied with a double slipped square knot. If the knot is not slipped, the next easy way to undo it is to "spill" the knot. Depending upon the type of knot, this usually requires two hands. To spill the knot, a section that looks like a loop is pushed or pulled in the direction away from the load which will either loosen the knot or release it. If a knot cannot be spilled or slipped, it will require 2 hands and can be difficult, sometimes also requiring a tool.
Generally, it's called a knot. It may, however, be a spinning error -- a slub.
In knitting, sl1 means to slip one stitch. To do this simply slip the stitch from the left hand needle to the right without knitting it. Stitches can either be slipped purlwise or knitwise. If slipped purlwise, the stitch will not twist but if slipped knitwise it will twist. Therefore, if the pattern does not specify which way to slip the stitch, it is best to slip purlwise. See the related link for a diagram showing how to slip stitches.
The word "knitting" is derived from the word Knot and ultimately from the Old English "cnyttan", to knot. One of the earliest known examples of knitting was found in Egypt from the end of the first Millennium AD and was a pair of socks, cotton with stranded knit color patterns. Originally a "MALE" only occupation, the first knitting trade guild was started in Paris in 1527.

Slip knot is the preferred knot. Just wrap the yarn around two fingers and pull the yarn that connects to the ball through the two fingers and pull until it knots. It may take some practice but then you are able to cast on.
Yes. That is possible. The knot may get slipped off. The tube will unite due to natural tendency of body to heal.
You can leave it untied, but it will damage it over time as well.
