There is absolutely nothing cool that a 5 year old wants crocheted. He wants a transformer or a scooter or a bike. Crochet a dump truck that he can play in the dirt with.
I can think of no crochet abbreviation which would fit this. I wonder if it is the price on a British pattern? Before the present currency was adopted, an old penny was given the symbol 'd'.
It is the elimination of "old" inner lining of the uterus, so that a new "fresh" lining can be produced. Its importance is that an embryo can only implant on a new lining.
Ask him. He may have some ideas of his own.
It is not exactly known when people began to crochet. There are no known examples of crochet prior to 1800--whereas there are knitting samples (a pair of knitted cotton socks) which dates to around 1000 c.e.The earliest reference to crochet was in a book published in 1812: The Memoirs of a Highland Lady by Elizabeth Grant. The first written crochet pattern was in a Dutch magazine dated 1824.Some people have hypothesized that crochet might have had an earlier manifestation, by someone using their crooked finger as a "hook" so there would not be archeological evidence of hooks around. However, there are no known crochet items found which date prior to 1800.
The 'mechanics' of crochet -- looping lengths of fibre into knots -- is as old as mankind. These basics are used in fishing nets, home decorations and fabric manufacture. Any fibre or fabric can be used for crochet -- depending on the ultimate use. For example, some children crochet flower stalks into crowns for their heads. Torn strips of t-shirts can be used to fabricate rugs. Strips of plastic bags can be crocheted together to make tote bags. The list is pretty open-ended.
To incorporate the color changing (cc) technique in crochet for a multicolored design, simply switch yarn colors at the desired point in your pattern. Start by crocheting with one color, then when you want to change colors, finish the last stitch of the old color with the new color. Continue crocheting with the new color, carrying the old color along the stitches to be used later. Repeat this process as needed to create a beautiful multicolored design in your crochet project.
Yes it is. You are passing the old lining of the uterus.
If you can crochet you can be your own charity. Just go into a retirement home near you. Ask if they have a resident that crochets. Or teach it or reteach it to some of the ole gals in the home. Bet there were some that did it when they were young. You could be having crochet time going on in a number of homes heck have a ball. You will be surprised at the ole folks. Crochet is becoming a lost type thing it seems. Get out and light a fire for crochet. That would be closer to teaching the man to fish so he can eat fish forever instead....of feeding him some fish then leaving him to starve. It seems you have a talent and a desire to pass it on. I commend you and wish you well. By the way. You don't crochet dish cloths do you? I had an 87 year old gal till last year, she passed on bless her that kept me in dish cloths. She made the best dish cloths I swear. Hand crochet. If you do maybe we can figure out how to contact on here.. lol I personaly admire someone who crochets. Keep it up... JIm
