For making Shrinky Dinks, you typically use special shrink plastic sheets, often labeled as "Shrinky Dinks" or "shrink film." These sheets can be made from materials like polystyrene or PETG, and they are available in both clear and frosted options. It's important to use sheets that are specifically designed for shrink art to ensure they shrink properly and retain the desired quality after baking. Always check the packaging for specific instructions and compatibility with printers if you're planning to print designs.
No, you should not use Shrinky Dinks designed for inkjet printers in a laser printer. The heat generated by a laser printer can cause the plastic to warp or melt, leading to potential damage to the printer and ruining the material. Always use the specific type of Shrinky Dinks recommended for your printer type to ensure the best results and avoid any issues.
You get a piece of plastic paper.(Those are available at most craft stores.) Then, you draw a design or shape on your shrinky dink.(You can only use permanent marker because it is the only marker that won't melt off.) Cut out your shrinky dink,(it can be any shape or size) and punch a hole in it to make a necklace. If you don't want a necklace, put the shrinky dink in the oven on a brown piece of paper, and set it to 300 degrees on bake. Wait three min. then take it out. Touch the paper, not the shrinky dink. IT WILL BE HOT AND WILL HURT YOU! Wait 30-45 seconds for it to cool off. If the shrinky dink curls up in the oven, wait to see what will happen, it might stick, it might uncurl. IF IT STICKS, you MIGHT be able to uncurl it, maybe not. If it stays curled and sticks, make another one! Shrinky dinks are fun, easy and cheap. Some cool things that will happen are:It will thicken and feel like REAL plastic! The words will shrink with it! So will the hole you might have punched. ENJOY!
1. Place a sheet of Shrinky Dinks over a dsign with the rough side up. Trace the design including the thin cut line around the edge. When tracing letters, draw your own cut line approx. 1/4 inch away from the letters. 2. Color and decorate your artwork with the colored pencils. Be sure to stay only on the rough side of the Shrinky Dinks. 3. Ask and adult to help with this step. Cut out your colored design from the Shrinky Dinks sheet following the traced cut line. Be sure the edges are smooth. Do not leave any sharp corners or they will become very pointy when you skrink the art. Use a hole punch if you want to make a keychain. 4. ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIRED FOR BAKING. Pre-heat your kitchen oven or toaster oven to 325F. DO NOT MICROWAVE. Place your creation onto a non-stick cookie sheet with the colored side up. Place in oven and WATCH the baking process. It takes 1-5 minutes depending on the thickness of the cookie sheet. Piece will curl and then flatten out. Bake another 30 seconds then remove from heat. Let cookie tray and art cool for 3 minutes.
There is no adhesive in toilet paper.
