Wood grows literally on trees. Timber, used for building, furniture, and other manufacturing and decorative purposes, is obtained from trees, usually from the thick central trunk of the tree, from which the branches (which bear the leaves) grow.

Trees grow in almost all parts of the world, apart from some deserts such as the Arctic tundra and other treeless areas.

So wood harvested for human use and referred to as timber grows in practically every land on Earth.
