The Sewing Machine....It'll keep you in stitches!

Perhaps you have the sewing machine tension too high? Perhaps you have cheap thread designed for hand sewing?
When you sew, your finger can get caught in the sewing machine if you get too close and that could lead to serious injury, for starters, the cutting and pulling of the skin.
An electric sewing machine does it's work by using electricity to move the needle up and down, and rotate the bobbin. The mechanical parts of a manual sewing machine, had to be set in motion by turning a handle, or pedal. An electric sewing machine has an electric motor attached to these rotating parts, by belt or gearing and operated by a foot switch. This makes it less tiring on the arms or feet, you can keep sewing faster and longer.
The take up lever is used in threading the sewing machine and to keep the thread tension at the proper level. If the take up lever is threaded improperly, the thread will knot up and jam in the machine.
To sew effectively and efficiently with a sewing machine, start by threading the machine correctly and selecting the appropriate stitch and tension settings. Make sure to use the right needle and thread for your fabric. Practice sewing straight lines and curves to improve your skills. Keep your machine clean and well-maintained for optimal performance.
draw a line lightly with a ruler then follow it. that's what i do.
Sewing Cabinets are designed specifically for the sewer, therefore are much more practical than a table. They have several compartments in which to house all your sewing bits and bobs, which can come in very handy when trying to keep everything organised and together.
I threw my cabinet out. It was junk! I got mine for FREE from a garage sale. There were no accessories. If yours has those and runs well someone might be willing to pay $25 maybe $50. Look on your local Craigslist to see what vintage machines are listed for. Keep in mind what people are asking is not necessary what they are getting. I just bought a Japan made White with solid cabinet for $12. She was asking $20. There were no accessories but it does work!
In order to use a sewing machine safely, you need to be attentive. Keep your eyes on the needle and keep your hands away from the moving machanism. If you do not know how to use a feature, especially one that involves changing out parts, read the directions carefully first.
