You can make a homemade composter in your backyard. (Compost is an organic waste that decompose easily and make for great fertilizer. Such waste includes newspaper, fruit peels, table scraps, etc.). Hope this helps!

This depends upon how much effort you wish to invest in the process of recycling. I used to know someone who had attached a hose to the bottom of her kitchen sink, so that when she finished washing dishes, she could direct the dishwater to her back yard to water the plants. Hardly anybody goes to that length, but even dishwater can be recycled. Food waste can become compost, paper or cardboard can be recycled, metal cans and glass jars can be recycled, and some types of plastic are recyclable. Batteries are not recyclable, they have to go to a special toxic waste disposal site, since most types of batteries contain toxic metals and they are not really safe to just throw away (although most people do).

Actually batteries are "recycled", in special plants that recover their metals. Similarly with scrap electrical & electronic equipment generally.
