A good place to find quality sewing threads are at local arts and craft stores. One would most likely recommend Michael's or Jo-Ann, the two biggest arts and craft stores in America.
You can judge whether or not a coat is of good or bad quality by trying it on and inspecting it. If you are looking for a warm coat, you should begin to feel warmer soon after trying it on. As for craftmanship, inspect seams for crooked sewing or loose thread.
They use sewing needles and thread as well as a good foundation( braiding pattern)

The Singer portable line are good, but don't expect to get the quality of a full sewing machine in a portable model.
I got a singer model 188k1 and it is not sewing good .The bottom thread is bunching up instead of looping the way it should.what should I look at to see what could be loose or worn etc.?
When a pattern says, "use general sewing guidelines" it means to allow for the standard 5/8" seam allowances etc. You should be able to find the general guidelines on your pattern instruction sheet that is enclosed with the tissue pattern. Kate
depending on how much hair you are going to be putting in should depend on how many braids you will be doing. If you intend on your entire head being covered in hair extentions you should braid your entire haid in a circlar shape. If not the just a few rows with about an inch in between each row should be good. You can then sew up the end of the braid with the the hair thread. Then just thread your needle and start sewing your hair to the braid as if you were sewing a shirt.Answerdepending on how much hair you are going to be putting in should depend on how many braids you will be doing. While you won't actually lay on your bedskirt, there are several reasons why purchasing one with a higher thread count is a good idea. Low thread count material can have a rough look compared to the plushness of a higher count material. If you go with a bedskirt with a lower thread count, you may find that it does not hold up due to its bad quality. It may not wash as well as a higher quality skirt.

A collection of pins, buttons, and cotton can be referred to as a sewing kit or sewing notions. You have two options here, which are equal in difficulty. 1. Sew with your machine- this simply takes practice in applying the right amount of consistent pressure on your applique so that the stitching does not appear jagged or jumpy. If you have a low quality sewing machine I would strongly advise against using your machine. Especially if you have problems with thread tension. 2. Sew by hand. If you're proficient in hand sewing, give it a go. I usually use a whip stitch or chain stitch when hand sewing in a circle- I find straight stitching too tedious. Good luck.
In order to sew you need fabric, a needle, and thread. Some people find it helpful to sew projects using a pattern, which gives them step by step instructions. You may need other materials, like buttons and scissor, to sew a full project.
