Right at the top of the engine you will find the carb immediatley to the right on the carb you will see a flat head screw this will adjust your idle , helps to have a second person on this.
To adjust the idle on a 1984 Mercury Capri, first ensure the engine is at operating temperature. Locate the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body; this is typically a flathead screw. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, aiming for the recommended RPM specified in the owner's manual. Finally, check the idle speed using a tachometer and make any necessary fine adjustments.
To slow the cold start idle on your 1991 Mercury Capri, you can adjust the idle speed using the idle speed screw on the throttle body. Additionally, check the coolant temperature sensor and the idle air control (IAC) valve to ensure they are functioning properly, as they can affect the idle speed. If needed, you can also tweak the air-fuel mixture for optimal performance during cold starts. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific adjustments and procedures.

To adjust the idle speed on a 1991 Volvo 740, locate the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Use a tachometer to measure the idle speed, then turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, ensuring it stays within the recommended range of 750-900 RPM. Finally, recheck the idle speed to confirm the adjustment and ensure the engine is running smoothly.
To adjust the curb idle on a 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis, locate the idle speed adjustment screw on the throttle body. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Use a tachometer to measure the RPM, then turn the idle speed adjustment screw clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed, aiming for the recommended RPM specified in the owner's manual. Finally, recheck the idle speed after adjustments to ensure it’s within the correct range.
To set the idle speed on a 1965 Mercury outboard, first ensure the motor is warm and running. Locate the idle adjustment screw, typically found on the carburetor, and use a screwdriver to turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Adjust until the engine runs smoothly at the desired idle speed, avoiding excessive RPMs that could cause stalling or rough operation. Finally, double-check the adjustment by letting the motor idle and observing its performance.
