you get the wool fibres and wet it and make it a little soapy and then you roll it around in your hands until it goes into a hard ball. you should then wait for it to dry and this is felt
It depends on the type. Wool felt is made from sheeps wool and is a renewable resource which does not harm the sheep, the same is true for rayon blends as rayon is made from wood pulp fiber.
