Cloth normally reflects some light. Remember that materials absorb "not colors" and they reflect "colors" that they are. Make sense? If something is blue, it reflects blue light and absorbs the rest (the "not colors"). Let's jump. Take a piece of cloth that is absorbing some light and reflecting other light. Along comes water. Water is basically transparent to light. But it does refract, or "bend" light, do a degree. When cloth is wet, some of the light that otherwise might be reflected is scattered into the cloth, and the cloth is given a "second chance" to absorb more of the light - which it does. More light absorbed equates to darker color or appearance. Wet cloth absorbs more light because of the effects of the water. Water scatters some of the light, and the cloth absorbs more of that light than it would if it wasn't wet.
The water fills in some of the spaces between the fibers. This water acts just like a fiber optic cable, carrying the light through the material instead of reflecting it back to your eye. Since more of the light goes through the material, less of the light is reflected back and the wet spot looks darker.
how do i remove ink stains from wet clothes
to dry clothes when they are wet
When objects are wet, they appear darker because the water on their surface absorbs and scatters more light, reducing the amount of light reflected back to our eyes. This makes the wet objects appear darker compared to when they are dry.
Tarmac appears darker when wet because the water fills the pores in the surface, reducing the reflection of light. The water on the surface creates a smooth layer that decreases light scattering, making the pavement appear darker.
When You wear wet clothes, your body heat evapourates the water from the clothes by taking it from your body. this dries the clothes. Therefore it makes you feel colder :)
No
When you squeeze wet clothes, you are applying pressure to remove excess water from the fabric. This helps the clothes dry faster.
light refraction
Yes, drying wet clothes is a physical change because the water in the clothes evaporates when exposed to heat, but the clothes themselves remain the same chemically.

To effectively dry wet clothes using a dry towel, lay the wet clothes flat on a clean, dry surface. Place a dry towel on top of the wet clothes and gently press down to absorb excess moisture. Repeat this process with a fresh dry towel until the clothes are mostly dry. Hang the clothes to air dry completely.
