Running stitch
A pivot stitch is a sewing technique used to change the direction of stitching without lifting the presser foot. To execute it, the needle is lowered into the fabric at the desired pivot point, the presser foot is lifted, and the fabric is turned to the new direction before lowering the presser foot and continuing to sew. This method is especially useful for creating precise corners and curves in various sewing projects. It helps maintain the alignment of the fabric and ensures clean, sharp turns.
There are plenty types of sewing stitches such as: Back Stitch, Overstitch, Gathering Stitch, Zigzag, Busting Stitch, Standard Stitch and many more.

Many sewing machines have the cross stitch programmed into them, which you can vary to a degree
The stitch regulator allows you to control both the length and the width of the stitch. The length of the stitch depends on the fabric you are sewing and how small or large you want the stitches to be (for example, if you're basting something together, you'd change the stitch length regulator to a higher number). The width of the stitch is controlled when sewing with an alternative stitch, such as a zigzag.
