Not all diagnostics ports are the same if your car was made before 1996. Prior to 1996, if your car has a computer (ECU) and is fuel injected (petrol or deisal) you will probably find a diag port under the bonnet. It will be manufacturer specific.
After 1996, a system called OBDII was released on all cars. The port is identical and can be located inside the car near the fuse box under the dash or near the ECU or even under the centre consul.

Hello The diagnostic hookup is located beside the hood popping lever. It has a cover that you just pop open to access the diagnostic connector where the obdII plugs into. I have a Volvo V70 T5 2001.
