I don't think there is room to put an overdrive in a Zuke, I've seen most of the aftermarket overdrive units and all the OD's I've seen would be way to big. There are transmissions with different fifth gear ratios, one trans has a higher fifth gear than the other. Guys with the 33" and bigger tires usually run the lower ratio fifth gear. You can ether swap the trans or swap the fifth gear in your trans if it has the lower ratio fifth gear in it. That might help, if I remember right its only about 300rpm difference.
It can come with either a Getrag manual 5 speed, or an automatic 4 speed with overdrive
I'm not sure what you mean by what size, but if you are talking about how many speeds, I believe the early 1988 Broncos came with a 3-speed transmission and the later 1988s came with a 3-speed with overdrive. Most of the information I've found online shows that the 1988 came with the 3-speed, but I own a 1988 (it was built towards the end of 1988) and it has the 3-speed with overdrive.
If it has overdrive, then it is the 4L60 which is almost identical to the earlier 700R4. If it does not have overdrive, then you most likely have the Turbo 400 3 speed automatic.
Mona Lisa Overdrive was created in 1988.
nope.
Transmission: THM 440-T4 automatic four-speed (includes overdrive and viscous converter clutch)
np 435 4 speed manual
remove the shift knob,t bar, shifter boot and plate, the switch is attached with 2 screws
it had to be ordered other wise it was automatic
There are 4 different options for the type of transmission that came in a 1988 K5 Blazer. They are the 4 speed SM465 manual, the 3 speed TH350 automatic, the 3 speed TH400 automatic and the 4 speed 700R4 automatic.
in mine i have a 5 speed manual but mine is a 4 cylinder if you have the v6 it will have a automatic
Believe it or not, the factory manual calls for Automatic transmission fluid GM Dextron II for the 4 and 5 speed manual transmissions. Cheers Malcolm
