My car is going through the same issue with the A/C. You CAN replace the compressor clutch without replacing the compressor, but the caveat is that you can't tell if the compressor is any good without a clutch. So basically you are gambling that the compressor will still be good by only replacing the clutch. Hope this helps!

How do you replace the water pump on a 1986 Honda Accord?

In my '87 accord, replacing the water pump was a big ordeal at the shop - $550 was a bargain price for the job. it involved the same work as replacing the timing belt - which was only $50 extra at that point. Not that this is a specific answer, but the point is that it's hard. Rick

Is it possible to replace the water pump in a 1988 Honda Accord without replacing timing belt?

Of course it is possible but why would you want to do that? You have to remove the cam belt in order to replace the water pump. Once you have the belt removed you could just reinstall the old belt but would it not make good sense to replace it with a new one.
