If the cable is intact, inspect the latch mechanism itself for any debris or rust, and clean or lubricate it as needed. Inspect the trunk lid's rubber seal and the latch mechanism for any damage or misalignment. If the issue persists, locate the trunk ajar switch, which may be a simple button or sensor, and test it for proper operation or replace it if necessary. Lastly, if all else fails, consult a professional mechanic for further diagnosis.

Fold down the rear seats (if possible) to reach the trunk area and manually release the latch. If that doesn't work, you may need to use a slim jim or a similar tool to manipulate the lock mechanism from the outside, but this requires some skill and care to avoid damaging the car. If these methods fail, consider contacting a locksmith for assistance.
