fuel filter is the approximately fist sized black cylinder on the firewall up top towards the center. you can follow the fuel lines to it if you're worried. it helps if you have specvial flare nut wrenches instead of open end. they're like box wrenches with one side missing, so they can fit over the tubing but still grab 5 sides of the nut instead of just two, and not round off the nut, or crush it like vicegrips or such would. the main thing to be careful of is, if things are in good shape there will be 40 lbs of pressure in the system even when the car is off, so when you first undo the fittings, keep a rag wrapped around it so you don't get 40 lbs of gas squirting in your eye.
