Under the hood, by the headlights casees (well, actually behind them), you should see two screws/knobs. One if for up/down movement, and the other is for left/right movement. A socketwrench works nicely to adjust the headlights.
To adjust the low beam headlights on a 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon, first park the vehicle on a level surface facing a wall about 25 feet away. Measure the height of the headlight lens from the ground and use masking tape to mark that height on the wall. Turn on the headlights, then adjust the vertical aim by turning the adjustment screws located on the headlight assembly until the top of the light beam is aligned with the tape mark. For horizontal adjustment, ensure the beam is centered relative to the vehicle's width.
On a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback, the knock sensor is typically located on the engine block, near the intake manifold. It is usually found on the driver's side, towards the back of the engine, and can be accessed by removing some components for better visibility. The sensor is a small, cylindrical device screwed into the engine, designed to detect engine vibrations and adjust timing accordingly.

There are two screws on the back of each headlight housing. One adjusts up and down, the other side to side.
