This depends on wich engine is in the vehicle. The 1.6 and 2.0 petrol are timing chains. the 2.0 and 2.3 diesels have belts. the timing marks are as follows:

2.0 diesel: cam and injection pump marks should be at 11 o'clock. crankshaft mark at 2 o'clock with keyway at 12 o'clock.

2.3 diesel: same as 2.0 diesel.

Hope this helps.

How do you set the marks on Nissan Serena engine?

To set the marks on a Nissan Serena engine, first, ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover, ensuring they match. For the camshaft, make sure the marks on the cam sprockets align with the corresponding marks on the engine. Finally, double-check all alignments before reassembling components to ensure proper timing.

At what mileage do you change the timing chain on a 1996 Nissan Maxima?

You dont they are meant to be in the car for the life of the engine. But you can buy a timing light and check the timing.

How do you set 97 Nissan pickup timing?

To set the timing on a 1997 Nissan pickup, first, ensure the engine is at operating temperature and then turn off the engine. Next, locate the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley and the timing scale on the engine. Use a timing light to check the timing by connecting it to the number one cylinder spark plug wire and aiming it at the timing marks while the engine is running. Adjust the distributor as needed to align the timing mark with the specified timing value found in the vehicle's service manual.

What model and engine Nissan cars have a timing chain?

Many Nissan models are equipped with timing chains instead of timing belts, notably those with the QR25DE engine, found in vehicles like the Nissan Sentra and Altima. The VQ-series engines, such as the VQ35DE and VQ37VHR, also utilize timing chains in models like the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G37. Timing chains are generally considered more durable and require less frequent replacement compared to timing belts. Always check specific model years and configurations, as engine options can vary.

Does a Nissan 1400 have a timing chain?

The Nissan 1400, which is powered by a 1.4-liter engine, typically uses a timing chain rather than a timing belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and require less frequent replacement than timing belts. However, it's always good to check the specific engine variant and model year, as there can be exceptions.

Where is the timing belt on a 1997 Nissan pickup?

It has a timing chain. The timing chain is on the front of the engine. But before messing with it ,I would have the timing check first. You may have something else wrong, like a sensor or a vaccum leak.

How do you set timing on Nissan Altima 2.5?

To set the timing on a Nissan Altima 2.5, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, align the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover. If adjusting the timing, use a timing light to check the ignition timing while the engine is running, and adjust the distributor if necessary. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific timing specifications and procedures.

How do you set timing on a 2004 Nissan Titan?

To set the timing on a 2004 Nissan Titan, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Then, check the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft to align them correctly. If the engine has a distributor, adjust its position to achieve the desired timing, typically around 15 degrees BTDC. Finally, use a timing light to verify the timing while the engine is running, making any necessary adjustments.

How do you set the timing on a 2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8l engine?

To set the timing on a 2003 Nissan Sentra 1.8L engine, first ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for cylinder one. Align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys according to the specifications in the service manual. After installing the timing chain or belt, double-check the alignment of the marks before reassembling the engine components. Finally, start the engine to verify proper timing and listen for any unusual noises.
