The question is how to check only... For the auto trans. there should be a dipstick there, just like the one for oil but different color (check your owners manual). vehicle should be driven at least 5 to 10 miles and then check the trans fluid to get the acurate result. the fluid must be maintained between the notches at the indicated operating tempereture...

if its not leaking......don't, but if you insist on checking, get the trans to operating temp. remove the 5mm Allen plug in the trans pan (not the 14mm hex!) a little fluid should come out. if so, leave it alone. if nothing comes out, get some WS trans fluid (from the dealer) and use the method for the 2005 on this same page. they are the same trannies.

To change the transmission fluid in a 2005 Toyota Sequoia, first ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and warm the engine to help the fluid drain. Remove the transmission pan bolts to access the fluid and let it drain completely. Replace the transmission filter if applicable, clean the pan, and then reinstall it with a new gasket. Finally, refill the transmission with the appropriate type and amount of fluid through the dipstick tube, checking the level as you go.
