You need to park the car, run until it reaches the operating temperature (about 5 minutes). After that go through all gears (do while you are parked). Put it on N (neutral), go and check the level with the dipstick (you can find in the engine compartment next to the battery, to the left from the battery). Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, put it back, pull it out again. The level must somewhere in between the marks "Cold" and "Hot", closer to the "Hot". If you need to add some fluid, do it with the engine running. It take about one quart of the fluid to bring the leve from "Cold" to "Hot".
How do you check the transmission fluid level on 1999 jetta GLS?
To check the transmission fluid in a 1999 Toyota Avalon, first ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is warmed up. With the engine running, locate the transmission dipstick, usually found near the back of the engine compartment. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then pull it out again to check the fluid level. The fluid should be within the marked range; if it's low, add the appropriate transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
