Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, put it back, pull it out again. The level must somewhere in between the marks "Cold" and "Hot", closer to the "Hot". If you need to add some fluid, do it with the engine running. It take about one quart of the fluid to bring the leve from "Cold" to "Hot".
