I have read several postings on other sites where people just suggest a funnel with a narrow enough tube to fill through the dipstick hole (the yellow fingerloop dipstick to the left of the battery), However the actual "fill" hole is located just behind that ( towards the firewall). There is a 17 mm bolt plugging the hole. It's just slightly larger than the other bolts around it, and it has "ATF" stamped on top of it. Hope this Helps!!
Yes, of course. A transmission can only hold so much transmission fluid.
Inside the transmission.
In a 2000 Honda Odyssey, the transmission speed sensor is located on the transmission itself, typically on the driver's side. It is mounted near the transmission fluid pan and can be accessed from underneath the vehicle. To replace or inspect it, you'll often need to raise the vehicle for better access.
The 2000 Honda Odyssey typically requires about 6 to 7 quarts of transmission fluid for a complete fluid change, including the torque converter. It's important to check the owner's manual for the exact specifications and recommendations, as well as to ensure the correct type of fluid is used, usually Honda ATF-Z1 or an equivalent. Always verify the fluid level after filling, as it may require adjustments.
Likely your transmission is dying. Google "odyssey transmission" and you will find lots of reports about problems with 2000- 2004 Odyssey transmissions. If you are persistent enough, Honda might help some with the repair.
To replace the transmission in a 2000 Honda Odyssey, first, ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported. Disconnect the battery, drain the transmission fluid, and remove the necessary components, including the driveshafts, starter, and any electrical connectors linked to the transmission. After unbolting the transmission from the engine, carefully remove it from the vehicle. Finally, install the new transmission by reversing the removal process, ensuring all connections are secure before refilling with fluid and testing the system.
Change all the transmission fluid and replace the filter.
No!!!!! Use nothing but genuine Honda ATF-Z1 A/T fluid.
3 qts.
Use only genuine Honda ATF DW1 and nothing else. Use some other fluid and your transmission may not shift properly.
Honda ATF-Z1 transmission fluid or a multi-import transmission fluid that meets the requirements for ATF-Z1.
