Small gauge on the big pipe, big gauge on the small pipe outside at the condenser. The refrigerant type does not matter. Be careful when connecting and disconnecting the high side gauge. You can seriously burn yourself and also lose a significant amount of the charge and wind up needing to place a service call to have that corrected. I would ask what you hope to achieve by doing this, since whatever the gauges tell you is meaningless if you need to ask this question.

Can R22 gauge read R416A?

R22 gauges are designed for use with R22 refrigerant, and while they can technically be used to read the pressure of R416A, the accuracy may not be reliable. R416A has different pressure-temperature characteristics compared to R22, so using R22 gauges could lead to misinterpretation of the readings and potentially improper servicing. It's advisable to use gauges specifically designed for the refrigerant in use to ensure accurate measurements.

Can you use r22 gauges for 134a?

Yes, you can use R22 gauges for R134a, but it's important to note that the pressure readings will differ due to the different properties of the refrigerants. R22 gauges are designed for higher pressures compared to R134a, so you must be cautious when interpreting the readings. Additionally, ensure that the gauges are clean and free from cross-contamination to avoid impacting the performance of the R134a system. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific applications.

Can you use a 134a freon manifold gauge set for R22?

No. the pressure are different, r22 runs at a fairly low pressure and you shouldn't be worried about blowing your gauges, but you won't be able to determine your super-heat or sub-cooling. for a about $100cdn you can buy the right gauges.

Why should a technician visually inspect the equipment before installing gauges?

Every time you hook up gauges, the line sets have to be purged thus reducing the quantity of the refrigerant. So to avoid unnecessary loss of refrigerant, visually inspect the equipment, you may not need to hook up gauges after all coz maybe its just an electrical problem.

How do you read R22 gauges?

To read gauges, you must know which is low side/high side,if you know that, then depending on which freon you are using, you read the pressures matching the temp, for example, looking at the low side gauge(blue gauge) look at R-22 freon, you will see that 40 degrees, will equal to 70 psi

Which is wires do you use to hook up new gauges to tie into the switch on the steering wheel?

It depends if the gauges are for replacing your old ones or new ones. They are located under your dash behind your gauge cluster. Your steering wheel should only have cruise control features and of course the ignition wiring.
