First, disconnect the battery negative cable and remove the door panel very carefully. If you don't have the exact door removal tools, a putty knife or screwdriver will work to remove the door panel. Get the power window control switch and lock control rods out of the way, and make sure to note how they go back together. Remove the weather protective shield out of the way, and try not to tear it because you will want to replace it. Knock the rivets out that are holding the motor and regulator to the door as well as the rivets that hold the track and window guide in place. Remove the power supply from the motor. Loosen the cap screws that hold the lift bracket to the bottom glass channel, but don't take out these cap screws. Using a piece of wire, hold the window closed, and loop this wire over one of the hold down cap screws and fasten the other end through one of the holes near the top of the door. When it comes to actually removing the mechanism, the seat belt anchor blocks any easy access to the door panel opening that would make it easy to remove. The mechanism can be removed by moving it as far back in the door assembly as possible and angling it carefully out of the door. Once the old unit has been removed, you can begin installing the new unit in the same place as the old one. Reattach the wires and close the car again the same way you opened it to replace the unit.
