How do you install thermo element in 2001 Nissan Xterra?

I'm just a do it yourselfer it was more of a pain to install this than anything. You can tie up the throttle cable with a zip tie to keep it out of the way. I pulled the air intake hose off, this made it a lot easier to get in there. After you take off the c locking ring for the element just pull the spring loaded arm up and wiggle out the old element. ( this is a little difficult because the spring is pretty strong). I was alone but it might help to have another person to help when your installing the new element. Because its time critical I zip tied the spring loaded arm up to the engine to hold it open so that I could get the new element out of its shipping cont. (thats spring loaded also you will need both hands to get it out of the shipping cont) I made sure there was enough clearance by testing with the old one first. Remember you only have ten seconds. When I put the new element in I quickly cut the zip tie to let the spring loaded arm come to rest on the thermo element.
