It's often a thermistor (temperature sensitive resistor) located inside the MAF sensor housing.
The 2003 Forrester IAT sensor can be found on the top of the transmission. The IAT sensor will be near the back of the transmission.
You can locate the 2002 Ford Focus IAT sensor on the hose between the air filter box and the top of the engine. The IAT sensor will be labeled as such.

A P0113 code indicates a problem with the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor in your Subaru Forester. To repair it, first, inspect the IAT sensor connector and wiring for any damage or corrosion, as these can cause poor connections. If the wiring is intact, test the sensor using a multimeter to ensure it’s functioning correctly; if it’s faulty, replace the sensor. Finally, clear the code and perform a test drive to ensure the issue is resolved.
as far as i am aware it is on the maf sensor, still looking into it

The IAT sensor is usually located within the air cleaner. Use the owner's manual to learn how to locate the airÊcleaner and any other part.
The IAT is located in the air intake duct. First, find the intake air hose, and then follow that to the sensor, which should be located with the mass air flow sensor if it is double?æoverhead cam engine.
The IAT (intake air temperature) sensor should be in the air intake snorkel between the MAF (mass air flow) sensor and the throttle body.
I bought a preformance chip and needs to be hooked up to the MAF/IAT sensor. Not able to locate on my 1994 Chevy silverado 5.7
