The question " How do you replace the front brake pad of a 1993 Nissan Maxima?"has an answer talks about front and rear brakes that applies here since Nissan and infinity are similar.
How do you put rear brakes and pistons back on a 2001 Infinity I30
I need help on fixing my back brakes on my 1997 sunfire
The 1997 Chevrolet Silverado rear brakes should automatically adjust themselves. Every time you back the vehicle up and hit the brakes the brakes adjust.
From your question im assuming that you have rear disk brakes so use a C clamp to press the pistons back down, if it is too difficult use the bleeder valve at the back of the caliper to release the pressure. Remember to bleed the brakes when you are done if you do this though
reinstall all proper parts
no! you need to push the pistons back into the calliper! you may need to turn them.
Worn caliper pistons, broken delivery lines.
If the brakes are not working on the back of a 1997 Dodge 1500 after changing the brake pads, try bleeding the brakes. The fault may also be with the master cylinder under the hood. Check to make sure all brake lines are connected.
Front brakes are done the usual way but the back pistons have to be screwed into the calibers not pushed in.
The reservoir with the lesser fluid capacity is for the rear brakes since the front calipar pistons require more fluid therefore they require the larger of the two.
if back brakes are drum i would think they are worn out not allowing pistons in wheel cylanders to return. also could be valve in master cylander.altho that would cause all brakes to lock up. if disk brakes your calipers need overhauling or replacing
Disc brakes ( with small brake shoes in the back of the rotors for your parking / emergency brake )
