Set the wheels and steering straight. Remove pressure line and return line from the rack side. unbolt and pop out the steering shaft. Must do so from driver panel. There are 5 bolts all in all that keep the rack attached to frame, unbolt them. There's a rear engine mount that sits over the rack, unbolt that. You'll need to lower the sub-frame from driver side by a good six inches. That will consume a lot of time. You'll be raising engine and lower sub-frame from driver side to create enough space to pull the rack out and replace it. With certain bolts hard to access and figuring out that i needed to drop the sub-frame, the job took appx six hours. Way more than i had in mind.

I have a 2000 that i have to replace and my book says you can buy the book taht will tell you how to do it from Auto Zone for $20 dollars. Put the car up on jack stands, remove both front tires, remove the 4 bolts from the pinch point, there are two on each side, remove the 2 bolt for the rear sub-frame , put a jack under the sub-frame before you remove those bolts, once you have those bolts remove lower the rear sub-frame remove the two bolt from the end of the sway bar 1 bolt on each side on each side. then remove the sway bar, pull it back and tip it down and pull out one side of the wheel well.
