1. Get the truck up on ramps and jack stands.. Make sure it's not going anywhere cause neither the e-brake or gears will help you. 2. Disconnect battery.
3. Disconnect the 4wd universal joint and main universal joint. (you will need to move the ebrake cable out of the way so go back into the cab and take the ebrake off.
4. remove the cross member
5. Loosen and remove all the bolts and nuts holding the tranny housing to the engine.
6. Top passenger side will be your last NUT and it's a tuffy. It and the main shaft will hold the tranny up.
7. Position a tranny jack underneath and slide the tranny out.
This is rather simplified but it should get you started just fine.
how do I remove the water pump from my 1990 Isuzu truck?
how do you remove transmission in 1999 rodeo
Most of the Isuzu npr trucks holds 6 and a half quarts of transmission oil.
dextron III
you sell the truck
There isn't a transmission dipstick. Auto mechanics have tools that will flush the transmission but other than that, there is no dipstick. There is a transmission pan under the truck where you can drain/flush your transmission.
Need to know if it is a truck or car and if it is a standard or automatic transmission.
For most isuzu rodeo transmission are sealed transmissions, (they do not have a dip stick) look under the truck and you will see two bolts on the transmission oil pan,(one smaller than the other) technically you're supposed to refill the oil with a special pump at mechanic shop. But there's a trick to do it yourself, on the driver's side of the transmission is a plug with a sensor( remove the sensor and fill from there. You will need an adjustable wrench..
there is a nut on the driyer side of transmission you need to remove and fill with a extension hose
If it has one, some don't, it will be located on the transmission pan. *** I have a 95 3.2L 4x4 w/skid plates. This truck does not have a drain plug. I had to remove the skid plate hardware, place a hydraulic jack under the transfer case and remove the transmission support bracket, and then contort to remove the transmission pan fasteners. This allowed me to wriggle and dribble (not drop) the transmission fluid and pan out from under the truck. The hydraulic jack was necessary to raise the transmission high enough above the exhaust stainless-webbed expansion joint to allow for the pan to be removed. It was a lot of work and messy but it was worth it.
remove starter remove transmission unbolt flywheel
It is in the bottom of the transmission. You will have to remove transmission pan and you will see it.
