Generally, you do this:

1) Remove the wheel.

2) Remove the brakes.

3) unplug the sensor wiring connector and then unbolt the brackets holding the wire from the sensor to the plug in place. A new wire is icluded with the new sensor.

4) Remove the sensor attaching bolt.

5) Twist the sensor, then pull it out.

I live in the US Northeast (rust belt) where #5 doesn't work once the car is about 2 years old or older. What we do here (except for DIYers and asshat mechanics) is use an oxy-acetylete torch to heat the metal around the sensor. This causes the outer layer of the sensor to temporarily become a lubricant. In this state, #5 is possible. With the sensor out, a battery brush, wire brush, or hone is used to clean the sensor bore. If you are a DIYer, use a MAPP gas torch instead as it's cheaper. MAPP gas torches (without oxygen) aren't as hot so you might want to have a fire extinguisher or some rags handy in case the sensor (mostly plastic) sets aflame.

6) Install new sensor.
