The Toyota seat is controlled by two motors. One for back seat tilt, and the main one for the forward back and up down. They operate on a screw system. My wife put the seat in the far forward position and it would not go back. Correction this was fairly simple. I deduced that if the motor was trying to engage, then the screw mechanism was not in the head of the motor and the two parts were not together for the motor to pull the seat back. To correct the problem, while holding the switch engaged in the reverse position, I took a hammer and taped on the front of the seat bracket just in front of the motor. It took two taps. The motor engaged the screw and the seat went back. Now we know not to take the seat full forward Hope this helps. Toyota didn't know how to fix it and from what I have read on the web, it is a common problem.
