Remove axle and bring to a auto parts/machine shop
Remove brake drum
Axle should be held in place by 4 bolts accessible through a hole
Remove 4 bolts and axle should slide out after removing the wheel and the brake drum if you are planning on using your old studs again here is what i do.take a wheel nut and flushing it on the stud. give it a good hit with a hammer.it should back out .they are held in place on a small spline so as not to spin when you are tighening the tire .if you are replacing all 5 then a good smack with a hammer should do.when installing the new studs tighten the new stud down drawing them in flush to the back of the hub.make sure they are in fully before replacing the drum and wheel.not really a bad job.have fun
Front wheel drive. The last rear wheel drive Impala made was the Impala SS in 1996.
remove wheel. if disk brake, knock studs out with a hammer. insert new studs from rear side of disk. use a spacer and wheel nut to pull stud thru disk until seated. then remove wheel nut and spacer. replace wheel if drum brakes you need to remove the brake drum, then proceed same as for disk brakes
A wheel bearing is pressed in to the hub so that it is able to safely operate. To replace a bearing on a Chevy Impala remove the hub from the car and take the unit to a machinist. Have the press out the old bearing and press in the new one.
