1) Open trunk

2) remove screw/retaining pins that hold the PVC trunk liner (the one against the backsplash of your trunk/rear end of your trunk/the end closest to the bulbs.....

3) The closest wiring harness to you will be the brake light/running light. I think the last 2 digits of the bulb is 57.....might be model number 1157......

4) Turn the bulb holder/plug (off-white/beige in color) 1/8 turn counter-clockwise as you look at the rear of the car....as though you were in the trunk looking out towards the street.....

5) GENTLY pull the plug out.....

6) Remove the bulb that is burned out (look at the filament, it's usually toast) by pulling it gently out of the socket...straight out.....be careful not to pull on the wiring harness itself....same logic as when you unplug a household appliance....hold on to the bulb holder snugly and gently pull straight out....

7) Put new bulb straight back in to replace old bulb.....best if you do it with a rag to keep your oils off the bulb

8) gently and evenly insert whole assembly back into the lens housing

9) Turn 1/8 turn clockwise to tighten the holder back into the lens housing

10) Tell your kids and anyone who drives your car or so much as touches the trunk not to SLAM the darn thing shut anymore as that is the number 1 culprit as to why those things go....

I have had my latest Camry for 12 years....1999.....I have probably replaced the tailight bulbs at least 3 times....replace in pairs....the cost for a pair of the bulbs is about $3-$4 plus tax.....should last 3-5 years per bulb.....
