Well, this should be a very simple job, before you lift your 4runner and remove any parts make sure to park with wheels turn all the way to the left or right, depends on which side you'll work first. This will give you more space to work with your brake pads. Now, you lift one side of the car and remove the wheel. Take a look at the caliper, on the front side of the caliper there is an opening, and through here you can see your brake pads. The brake pads are locked by two long pins, one on the top and one on the bottom. To remove these pins you must first pull out safety pin from each end of big pins. Removing two big pins might a problem, they will be corroded and dirty, and might not pull out easily. So, if this is the case then you can use something like WD40 to lubricate and loose these two pins, USE VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF LUBRICANT, DO NOT SPRAY ON ANYWHERE BUT ON THE PINS. After you remove two pins another part (let's call it a holder) will come out with the pins. Now, you need to push in calipers so that you can take out old brake pads and slide in a new ones. Make sure that you push in caliper evenly. After removing old pads use brake cleaner spray to clean caliper and disc. Spray a lot, but make sure you have something underneath to collect dripping brake cleaner. Now, after you carefully pushed all calipers back in slide new brake pads in the open slots. This is it. Very simple, should not take more than 30 minutes per side unless your pins are immovable. I hope this will help with your project. Cheers.
