To resolve the RX-8 coolant light and overheating issue, first, check the coolant level and top it up if necessary. Inspect for leaks in the coolant system, including hoses and the radiator, and repair any found. Additionally, ensure the thermostat and water pump are functioning properly, as failures in these components can lead to overheating. If the problem persists, consider having the cooling system pressure tested for hidden issues.
The engine is overheating. The check engine light is not on because you have no problem with the emissions system which this light monitors.
You are OVERHEATING. You most likely have an intake or Head gasket problem.
Coolant light, meaning low coolant, or overheating.
Either low coolant level or the engine is overheating.
That happens because the engine is overheating. Normal causes are low coolant, bad thermostat, or inoperative fan.
If it's overheating, it cold be thermostat, radiator or possibly other problems. If it's not overheating it could be the coolant level sensor.
Low coolant level.
when u have low coolant
if the coolant light is flashing red it means it's overheating (DO NOT DRIVE), check coolent level "if level is fine", it may be your thermastat. if coolent level is low check your coolent hoses. (allow engine to cool before checking)
That sounds like a overheating warning light. Allow engine to cool then check coolant levels.
The light is the low coolant light. It is NOT an overheating light it just means your coolant level is low
Very few cars have a low coolant light but will have a overheating light. You can be sure it will look like water or a thermometer. Why not just raise the hood and check the coolant level.
