get timing light from somewhere. hook up light to see where timing is currently at. should be at 15 degrees BTDC. To check timing, connect the timing light to the #1 spark plug wire, shine light at big pulley at bottom of motor and look for the white notches and the arrow above the pulley. The arrow should be over the 4th notch with notches being 0,5,10,15,20 degrees from left to right. loosen the hold down screw that is to the right of the distributor and slowly spin distributor while checking the notches. stop and lock down screw when you have it in spec.
