Nissan terrano 11 techometer not working
run a new line to the distributor.
It depends on what is wrong with it.The tachometer takes input from the revolutions of the engine, so can you identify if the connection in the engine is okay, or if the connection to the actual guage(tachometer) on the dash is okay.A test would be to get a working instrument panel, replace yours and see if the rev-counter(tachometer) works. If it does then it might be cheaper to replace the whole instrument panel. If it does not then the problem might be in the engine, you might want an auto-electrician to trace the cables etc.
That means that the bearings of the mechanism have failed. It is not economically practical to repair the tach. You'll need to replace it.
you have to replace it
Check the speed sensor
if you try to start it and it wont turn over it could be the timing belt. goodluck finding someone to fix it...
check your idle control valve located behind the engine
To fix a 12V diesel tachometer, first, check the wiring connections for any loose or damaged wires. Ensure the tachometer is receiving power by testing the voltage at the input terminal. If the connections are intact and powered, inspect the sensor or signal source, typically a magnetic pickup or alternator signal, for proper operation. If these components are functioning but the tachometer still doesn't work, it may need calibration or replacement.
for the check engine light go to autozone and they will diagnose your engine for free as for the speedometer you will proobably have to replace the speed sensor
To fix a tachometer needle that is stuck on the wrong side of the resting pin, first, carefully remove the tachometer from the dashboard. Gently pry off the glass cover to access the needle mechanism. Use a small tool to nudge the needle back to its resting position, ensuring it sits correctly on the pin. Reassemble the tachometer and reinstall it, checking that the needle functions properly before closing everything up.
I don't have the answer to your question, but I have a similar problem and have tried a number of things. My Accord V6 is a 1996 and the same tachometer problems have been appearing and disappearing for about one year. Even the Honda dealership couldn't fix the problem. They have changed the plugs and rotors and the ignition kit. Unfortunately, whenever I try to bring the car in, it runs fine. Let me know if you get a fix.
