I own a 2001 QX4 and have noticed a decrease in fuel efficiency over the years. Currently, with solid freeway driving, I'll get up to 18 MPG. However, when I mix freeway and city driving, I drop to approximately 14-15 MPG.

My wife drives a 2002 Pathfinder with the same 3.5L V-6 engine -- just one model year later, and gets significantly better mileage -- approximately 18 MPG driving freeway and city. Of course, it could be because her truck has 50K fewer miles on it than mine, but the bottom line is that Nissan/Infiniti have vastly improved the fuel efficiency for their vehicles over the last few years. Their current SUV's all get over 20 MPG (I believe) with larger and more powerful engines than the 3.5L in the 2001 QX$
