To change the rack and pinion on a 1992 Infiniti Q45, first, lift the vehicle and remove the front wheels for access. Disconnect the steering column from the rack, along with the tie rods and any fluid lines. Unbolt the rack and pinion assembly from the subframe, then replace it with the new unit, reattaching all connections in reverse order. Finally, refill the power steering fluid and bleed the system to remove any air.
If your 1992 Infiniti Q45 won't start but the dashboard lights come on, it could indicate a few issues. First, check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness, as a weak connection might prevent proper starting. If the battery is fine, the problem could involve the starter motor, ignition switch, or a blown fuse. Lastly, consider the possibility of a faulty fuel pump or relay, which would prevent the engine from receiving the necessary fuel to start.

The driveshaft on the 90-93 Q45 had a thinner rubber bearing than the ones found on the later model years. According to my Q45 specialist, it was a common issue and was usually replaced under warranty. If your Q45 has 100k+ miles on it, I would suspect the driveshaft bearing. Purchasing a factory driveshaft now would most likely get you the later model shaft with the thicker bearing. Another issue could be your transmission mounts and exhaust hangers. The rubber may have deteriorated and severly hampered it's ability to dampen the vibrations.
22-24 mpg up to 26 on the highway driving it easy.
