you have to remve the intake manifold
The spark plugs are located directly underneath the intake manifold. Therefore, It :the manifold: must be removed for access to the plugs. Its a stupid design..really! I believe this was done in order to make things harder and more expensive to the consumer. I know, I own one. Good luck!
To change the spark plugs on a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the ignition coil or spark plug wires to access the spark plugs, then use a spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew and remove the old plugs. Check the gap on the new spark plugs, install them carefully, and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, reconnect the ignition components and the battery terminal.
Depends on the engine, the 2.0l and 2.4l options were 4 cylinders with 4 spark plugs, the 2.5 L Mitsubishi 6G73 V6 option required 6 spark plugs.
To access the spark plugs on a 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante V6 3.5L, you need to first remove the engine cover by unscrewing the bolts or clips holding it in place. The spark plugs are located underneath the cover, along the top of the engine. Use a spark plug socket and extension to remove and replace the spark plugs carefully to avoid damaging the threads.
