You have a timing chain and it only need s to be changed when you get a rattle noise from the front of the engine. It all depends on how well maintanied the vehicle is If you change oil regularly it will likely last 150 000 + kms The guides are plastic that the chain runs on so I would change the chain regardless by 200 000 kms The guides get brittle over time and could break
in answer to your question the timing belt should be changed every 55/60 thousand miles
According to my dealer, it should be changed at 150,000 km.
Timing chains never need to be changed, only belts.
When I had my 97 Saturn I asked my mechanic that same question. I was told there is no timing belt on this car. The engine uses all gears.
If the engine has a timing belt, it should be changed around the 150K mark. If there is a timing chain, it does not have to be changed unless it is damaged.
When you here a rattling noise from the engine at idle.
Every 100,000 miles.
I believe that is at 105,000 miles
it should be changed every 100,000 miles
every 60 000 miles
Should last the life of the engine and is normally changed during an overhaul.
Every 80K miles, 100K max.
