You betcha!! Engine oil is engine oil ... just check your owners manual for the proper viscosity and region. Be sure to change that oil filter, too - those are available in the same store where you will purchase your motor oil. There are different ones, so be sure to ask for help or look up your car in the catalog near the oil filters to make certain you purchase the correct one.
if its a 2.0 then 2.0 liters of oil! 2.0 is the engine size, a 1988 Honda prelude 2.0 holds exactly 4 quarts of oil, i just changed my oil today and it says that in the owners manual.
You do not wait for some symptoms. You change the filter at regular scheduled intervals as listed in your owners manual. Don't have an owners manual then change it every 50,000 miles.
Check your owners manual, it will tell you in that.

Yes you can use regular unleaded fuel and it will not harm the engine. Although by using low grade fuel, you will not get the max performance from your bike. I have a 2002 YZF 600R and use nothing but premium in it now. I use to use regular unleaded and I found that I would change my plugs at least once a riding season. it builds up alot of carbon. But yes the owners manual says that you can use regular unleaded.
The service engine soon light means there is regular scheduled maintenance due on the vehicle. Oil change, tire rotation, transmission service, etc. All this is spelled out in your owners manual. This is different than the Check Engine light which means the ECU has detected a problem with the emissions system. You have to manually reset the light according to the instructions in you owners manual. Disconnecting the battery will not reset the light.
