an interference engine means when the timing belt snaps it bends valves etc etc a non interference engine when the timing belt breaks u simply replace it to the best of my knowledge the 4e-fe engine is non interference as i had one break before and simply replaced it i hope my answer is of some use to you cheers..........jono Ireland:)
what do you mean by an interference engine and why would you want to know, it wont change the engine, which is bullet proof except for oil burning, which left unchecked results in big end failure....peter
what is the correct torque for a Toyota Corolla engine - 4E-FE, 1st generation engine?
any engine from the toyota family with a e in it for example a 4e-fe or a 3e-te or a 5e-fe BIGG ZIGG
The 2004 Lexus LS430 uses the 3UZ-FE Toyota V8, which is an interference engine.
if it is the 3s-ge (2.0) or the 5s-fe (2.2) then it is a non-interference engine. I don't know about the 1.8 liter engine though.
Noninterference engine.
Not enough information. Some are - some aren't. What year? What model? What engine?
The 2.2L (5S-FE) motor is non-interference. The 2.2L (5S-FE) motor is non-interference.
The 2gr-fe uses a chain ,not a belt ,and yes if it were to jump the valves would bend
There is a big confusion about this online. Actually based on the research I have done some of them are interference and some of them are not. My source for saying this is the wikipedia page for MZ-FE engines: If you go through this carefully, you will see in the introduction it says this generally about MZ-FE engines (all 3 generations): "They feature cast aluminium pistons with an anti-friction resin coating (moly) and valve depressions that decrease the chance of valve-to-piston interference in case of timing belt failure on motors without VVT-i." So MZ-FE engines are non interference unless they are a VVT-i type. Let's go to the part titled 1MZ-FE. In the begining you see the applications of conventional 1MZ-FE which should be non-interference based on the introduction; those cars include:1994--2006 Toyota Camry (V6)1994--2003 Lexus ES 300 & Toyota Windom (Japanese domestic market)1996--2004 Toyota Avalon & 2000 Toyota Pronard (Avalon for Japanese domestic market)Toyota Harrier (non-US markets)1998--2000 Toyota Sienna1999--2003 Toyota Solara (V6)2000-- Toyota Estima (Japanese domestic market) In the second half, there is a list of those cars with VVT-i 1MZ-FE engines which are interference engines, again based on the introduction:1999--2003 Lexus RX 300 (US market)2000--2003 Lexus ES 3002000--2004 Toyota Avalon2002--2003 Toyota Highlander/Kluger2001--2003 Toyota Sienna2002-- Toyota Alphard (Japanese domestic market)2003--2006 Toyota Camry (V6) So as an example if you have a 97 Toyota Avalon it should be non interference. If you have a 2001 Toyota Avalon, you should check if the engine is VVT-i or not because it fits into both above lists for 1MZ-FE.
Interference... My 04 Santa fe broke it's belt. Ended up putting a new engine in it.
engine digram
1988 Toyota Camry, engine type is 3S-FE
