No its regular right hand thread, just tight as hell. If you cant get it off, go buy/borrow/grab a 24" breaker bar, stick it in the bolt, unplug your coil packs, put bar against hard ground, and tap the starter.
Standard.
To remove a harmonic balancer, you typically turn the harmonic balancer bolt counterclockwise (to the left). However, some engines may have a reverse thread, so it's always best to check the specific service manual for your vehicle. Ensure that the engine is securely supported and that you have the right tools for the job.
Yes, the bolt that holds the harmonic balancer in place on a 2001 Chevy Malibu is reverse thread. I learned that the hard way and stripped the head of my bolt down to nothing. And the bolt is almost impossible to find, because they no longer make them.
harmonic balance has left hand thread
It is a standered fine thread bolt, Grade 8
Normal right hand thread. Counter clock wise to loosen.
FORWARD. IF YOU ARE HAVING A PROBLEM GETTING IT LOOSE, TRY HEATING IT UP. HONDA PUTS LOCTITE ON THE THREADS. THIS SHOULD HELP.
first remove serpintine? fan belt then remove large bolt in middle of harmonic balance. this bolt usually has left hand thread next with a harmonic pulley ,puller, remove harmonic balancer.when removing this, there is a key in the balancer and shaft if a new key did not come with new balancer, make sure not to loose the old one install new balancer with key.use the bolt to pull balancer up tight where it needs to be and use proper torque on bolt
The bolt is just a standard right hand thread. Just took one out of an '01 Xterra.
Remove belt,4 pulley bolts and remove pulley. Remove harmonic balancer bolt and washer, reinstall bolt with out washer, just in about half way.You will need a harmonic balancer puller. These are not very expensive about $20.00 or borrow one from somebody. You just thread the correct included bolts into the balancer where you removed the pulley bolts and will be pushing on the reinstalled balancer bolt. The balancer should clear the bolt head without the washer. This is so you don't damage the threads in the crankshaft.
The harmonic balancer retaining bolt on the GM 3800 engine is a right-hand thread. This means it tightens by turning it clockwise and loosens by turning it counterclockwise. Always ensure to use the proper torque specifications when reinstalling the bolt to avoid any damage.
The harmonic balancer on a 2000 Mercury Villager typically has a bolt thread size of 10mm x 1.5 for the center bolt. It's important to verify this with a service manual or a trusted parts supplier, as specifications can vary slightly based on specific model configurations or engine types. Always ensure to use the correct torque specifications when reinstalling.
