I have never heard of an Automatic Starter. Are you talking about a Remote Starter? Now if you are asking if an A/T equipped Mazda and a Manual Transmission equipped Mazda have the same starter, the answer is yes, they are identical.
The main difference between the automatic and manual transmission starter solenoids in a 1984 Mazda RX-7 lies in their activation mechanisms and wiring configurations. The automatic transmission solenoid typically includes a neutral safety switch to prevent starting unless the transmission is in neutral or park, whereas the manual transmission solenoid does not have this feature, allowing the engine to start in any gear (provided the clutch is depressed). Additionally, the solenoids may have different electrical connections to accommodate these functions. Overall, the design reflects the operational requirements of each transmission type.
if it is an automatic transmission it is a real nitemare. you have to remove the two transmission coolent lines from the radiator, then you have to slide the starter out through the front of the motor, in between the motor mount and the engine, it will only fit if you get it just right.
I think it's depending on the vehicle, there may be a spacer between the starter and the motor. There may be a shield between the starter and the transmission housing if your starter is bolted to the transmission.
On a 1995 Ford Explorer : Looking into the engine compartment from the DRIVERS SIDE ( a flashlight would be helpfull ) the starter is LOW DOWN at the rear of the engine where the automatic transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine
On the 4.0 L engine, I believe the starter can be found low down on the driver's side of the engine, just in front of the transmission.
I was looking at one of the Ford websites , and for a 1996 Ford Explorer 4.0 litre V6 : It lists two different part numbers for a starter depending on whether it is an automatic or manual transmission
found it, it's under the manafold in the back Specify that you were looking for the automatic transmission starter because the Manual transmission has the starter right below the battery and air filter 15mm bolts btw
There are a few types of solenoids in an automobile. The transmission solenoid is responsible for properly shifting the gears in an automatic transmission. The starter solenoid power the starter.
If they are both automatic transmission , or both manual transmission , they have the same part numbers for a 1993 and a 1995
On a 1989 Mazda RX-7 with an automatic transmission, the starter is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the rear of the engine block. It is positioned below the intake manifold and above the transmission bellhousing. To access it, you may need to remove some components for better visibility and reach.
Follow the + battery cable -jump the small terminal and the wire to the starter (Make sure in neutral) Starter should operate
