why
I had the front brake pads and rotors changed on my 2008 Corolla LE and was charged $275.00
heat and a heavy hammer the larger the better
Depending on the pads, around $150 for front or rear, and depending on the car, around $250 for the rotors.
Excessive or heavy and continuous braking may warp brake rotors. Braking hard (heating the rotors a lot) and then going through water (which quickly cools the hot rotors) may also cause the rotors to warp. If the brake pads or brake rotors are getting thin, the rotors will warp more easily.
Hot spots are caused by over heating the rotors Causes: "riding" the brakes, faulty brake components, general abuse
4 time ASE certified tech here, warped front brake rotors will make your brake pedal pulsate and steering wheel shake when braking. most noticed when moderate braking at 40 - 50 mph.
take the lug nuts off while you have the car jacked up loosen the nut with a tie in it. FIRST TAKE THE TIE OUT then the rotors should come off. To put back do the same process backwards. ITS REALLY EASY
Here's a general how-to on rotors/pads for Toyotas. Hope this helps: http://us.toyotaownersclub.com//index.php?s=b9ed391060e9517b12c04ef19ff506d5&showtopic=141&pid=2810&st=0&#entry2810
I'm having the same problem right now, its my rear rotors. They are warped from the pads heating them to too high of temp. Hope this helps.
Nope no special tools, jack the car up, take the wheel off, the disc should be held on with one screw (the wheel nuts hold it in place) and the caliper should just have a couple of bolts holding it on. Fairly simple if your mechanically minded. note: i haven't actually worked on a 2002 corolla but i have worked on loads of jap cars and i own a 95 corolla.
Ok first off on my 1990 corolla there is no screws but i think i get what you are referring to. Ok my brake rotors if that's what you are talkin about are sandwiched in between two brak pads hel by a brake caliper most brake calipers have bolts that thread into the rotor and they are on the inside part of the hub closest to the engine bay area. but my car has two sets of bolts one for the brake calipers and one for the brakes themselves be careful and leave one brake together as reference when you reassemble the brakes when reinstalling everything. good luck :)
25 rotors. Cavaliers have 25 rotors on the car.
