Yes the SRS light is a warning light for the airbags, true. To troubleshoot whats wrong DOES NOT usually require a $$$ professional, sorry. Especially on older cars you can do simple tests that will generate a trouble code. It could be the result of disconnecting the battery or low voltage or even removing your seat. There are many sites on the web that will tel you EASILY how to use a PAPERCLIP inserted into the diagnostic module which generates blinking lights on your dash. (not just SRS but other blinking warnings) You count the blinks and determine the code and look it up. Be advised there are several ways you can reset this code so it doesn't appear but MORE IMPORTANTLY you should be more concerned with WHY it went off BEFORE you clear it. I just read mine (a 2000 Accord) and it is a defective seat belt buckle - a warentee replacement free of charge. I suspected it but the dealer wanted $150.00 to "troubleshoot". They said if it was the buckle it was covered but not the diagnostic. It took me about 10 minutes to read the code - 8 minutes of that was googling the solutions. Disclaimer - I am not a mechanic but I do what I can to minimize car expenses and limit contributions for expensive diagnostic tools at the dealer.
If your trouble code shows it's the airbags you have no choice but to go to the dealer - your airbags might not deploy correctly in an accident. Don't be scared to try it's easy!

WHAT DOES "SRS" LIGHT ON 2001 HONDA ACCORD DASHBOARD MEAN AND HOW CAN YOU PUT IT OFF
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "Air Bags".
Have the SRS problem repaired by a professional and he will reset the light. This is not a DIY repair. Working on the air bags can be dangerous. Take it to a pro.

The SRS lights says on when then is a problem with your air bag system. You need to take your Honda Accord into a service center to get it serviced.
SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) in other words air bags.

If the SRS light comes on then you have a problem with the air bag system. If you do not have a professional repair the system the light will just come back on.
