They issued a Technical Service Bulletin on December 3, 1999 #AC005-99 on this exact defect. = A/C int. INOP = Ambient Temperature light INOP = Fresh/Recirc Light INOP = Mode Indicator Light INOP = Blower INOP Toyota put a footnote on the TSB that "Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint." Which means the service department will not tell you about the problem. You have to be a expert and tell them what the problem is. The biggest scam is that this is an intermittent problem and unless it is not working when you bring it in they will tell you they can't duplicate the concern. Shame, shame, shame on Totota! The fix is a new A/C Amplifier, new Inlet Servo Motor, and new Servo Link. All told, including labor, this will cost you over $1,000 Of course, now that you know what the cause of the problem is... they will deny the fix because the vehicle is out of warranty. Many of us have been down this road! Just remember who screwed you next time you go to buy a car.
