It means that you're headed for an expensive transmission repair. Have it checked by a reputable transmission shop before it leaves you stranded.
when overdrive button is flashing, it is an indicater that there is a problem with your transmission. it may be a simple problem or it could be a major problem. take it to a transmission shop before you need to be towed into shop
overdrive button is located on gear shifter on automatice transmission.
Shifts the transmission in/out of overdrive Shifts the transmission in/out of overdrive
The button does not switch from Overdrive to Automatic. The button just turns the overdrive off. Overdrive is not a separate drive system as your question implies. Normally you leave the car in overdrive mode. That way the transmission shifts into overdrive at highway speeds, thus saving fuel. If you are saying the transmission is stuck in overdrive and it will not disengage then seek out a A/T professional.
It means you turned it off, usually a little button on the end of the shifter.
The button turns the Overdrive on and off. Leave it on unless you are towing something.
Is there a button to activate the overdrive on the transmission. If the button is activated and not in overdrive mode the car will never shift into 4th gear.
Your vehicle has an overdrive button on the shifter maybe. When you start your vehicle, overdrive is always on. When you tow something, you want the overdrive to be off, otherwise the transmission will run hot and that will lead to bigger problems.
There is a button on the left side of the gear shift shaft, just underneath the shift handle (automatic transmission). Push the button to toggle the overdrive on and off.
If you are refering to the button on the side of the shifter then it is the overdrive on / off button.Toyo joe
Turns the Overdrive on and off. Used for towing because you should never tow with the transmission in overdrive.
My 1998 explorer 5.0 did the same thing, i noticed the light flashing, then noticed that it hadnt shifted into overdrive. so i pressed the overdrive button *located on the end of shifter* it then shifted into overdrive and the light shut off. This happens easily, the button is very sensitive, the slightest touch even from shifting from Park to Drive can activate it. The button is for towing or hauling so you will substain torque and speed. hope this helps, write back if you still need help.
