It has to do with your cars exhaust/emissions system, more specifically, your Catalytic Converter (Catalyst). If it is 'below threshold', then it is basically worn out and needs to be replaced. The Catalytic Converter super-heats the exhaust gases to reduce emissions into the atmosphere. Take it to your local auto repair shop to have it inspected to be sure. There is usually no charge to look at it. Be prepared to spend anywhere from $250 to over $1000 to replace it, depending on what type of Converter your car has. Hope this helped
